Mother Shiptons

Hi Everyone,

We visited Mother Shiptons Easter Adventure yesterday which is running everyday until 24th April.

It's a beautiful place with a very large adventure play area, cave, waterfall, petrifying well, museum, shop, refreshment vans and plenty of picnic tables.

The Easter Adventure was amazing, the kids were giving a trail to follow and the attention to detail was second to none. There were so many things to see and explore. The photo opportunities were amazing. They have put selfie stations next to all the attractions making it perfect for capturing those precious family memories without missing one of the family out of the photos.

The story of Mother Shipton is a fascinating one and you can read all about her as you make your way around the park. The waterfall and petryfing well are really quirky and we enjoyed exploring the museum to learn more.

You are allowed two and a half hours to explore and that would be our only grumble as it was such a lovely day, we could have happily stayed longer but it is ample time to see and do everything within the park. We had a really lovely day and we are looking forward to their future events. We imagine Halloween especially at Mother Shiptons Cave would be amazing.

There are still tickets available for the Easter Adventure. For booking and more info please visit:

Mother Shiptons Easter Fun

Hi Everyone,

We have to say Mother Shiptons Easter event looks awesome. You can take part every day from Saturday 2nd April to Sunday 24th April, open 10am to 5.30pm (last admission 4pm), booking is essential and these events are usually a sell out so we do recommend booking early.

"Follow the Bunny Door Trail and look out for giant eggs, CRACKING photo opportunities and fascinating Easter scenes throughout the beautiful woodland.
The park will be transformed, creating an engaging Easter event suitable for all the family.

There’s something for the whole family at England’s Oldest Tourist Attraction, including the birthplace of the Yorkshire Prophetess Mother Shipton, the incredible Petrifying Well, a large children’s Adventure Playground (access is subject to weather conditions), and a Museum & Gift Shop.

Scrumptious ice cream is available to purchase as well as take-away coffee, tea, hot chocolate and refreshments from our lovely vintage-style kiosks in the middle of the woodland walk. There are plenty of picnic benches and scenic views. Dogs on a lead are welcome everywhere except the adventure playground for a picturesque mile-long walk along the River Nidd. "

The Alnwick Garden and Castle

Hi Everyone,

More goods news for Easter. The breathtaking The Alnwick Garden  and   Alnwick Castle  (grounds only) will be reopening on the 29th March! For recreation and exercise. Pre-booking is essential via their website.

We have spent many happy days at the gardens and castle over the years so we personally can't wait to return when restrictions allow.

We find that each area is a full day out in itself, especially when you take part in the various activities that are usually running (such a broom stick lessons, and potting shed crafts) meaning we rarely have time to visit both castle and gardens in the same day. However as only the outside areas will be open at present, a day should be adequate to visit both and really take in the beautiful surroundings.

We have always purchased the annual passes as once you have visited once you will definitely want to return and they really do pay for themselves after a couple of visits.
