The Great North Museum: Hancock Competition

“Design a character or creature and you could have it professionally drawn by one of the artists from Atomhawk Design Ltd. - the studio behind our exhibition Other Worlds.

Will you invent a new superhero or a mythical beast? It's up to you. Let your imagination run free and include as much detail as you can.

The Animal Guys have produced some fantastic content for us all to enjoy during this difficult time. We as a family have seen their live shows many times, they are always hilarious and their passion for animals is truly inspiring. We can't recommend them enough.

Western Approaches HQ

Hi Everyone,

A live history lesson will be taken place today at 1pm from a secret WW2 bunker in Liverpool as a live Facebook stream ( https://www.facebook.com/335862220170623/posts/854033471686826/ ) and then uploaded to you tube. While watching the lesson you can complete worksheets one for under 11s and one for over 11s which once completed can be exchanged for free entry to Western Approaches HQ when reopened.

Raby Park

If you still want to get out in the open Raby Castle is still currently open. Here's is a statement they have released

"As so many things are closing we thought it would be helpful to let you know what is still open here at Raby. Our Park and Walled Gardens are open as usual every day from 10am. Our Woodland Play area is also open daily from 10am and we have a refreshment kiosk in the coach yard chalet. Even though we have had to shut the Castle, Shop and Cafe and cancel events until the end of April, we hope you will continue to visit us to enjoy our beautiful open spaces. We have prepared a useful visitor information sheet with up to date opening times and advice which can be accessed here:"

Universal Movies

Hi Everyone,

Due to many cinemas now being closed  Universal Pictures have decided to make films available to stream at home the same day they appear in theatres.

The first film on the list is Trolls World Tour which will come out at home and in cinemas around April 10th. Its looking to cost around £16 to rent the films for 48 hours from on demand services such as sky so pretty similar to cinema family prices. Fab treat for the kids over Easter especially if can't get out to see the new releases.

Preston Park Unicorn Event

Hi Everyone,

For any unicorn fans out there this is a must. We took our daughters to this event last year and they absolutely loved it. It was a very magical experience for them.

You can see Stardust the unicorn on  Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 and Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 April between 10am and 3.30pm.

This event is drop-in and likely to be busy so we would advise early arrival. After visiting the unicorn there is lots of other things to do inside the museum which is like a mini Beamish. There are also huge grounds outside with lots of play equipment and a cafe. So plenty to keep everyone entertained all day long.

Jesmond Dene Easter Treasure Hunt

Katie's Garden at Souter Lighthouse

Hi Everyone,

Katie's Garden will be at Souter Lighthouse this Saturday 7th March with a packed programme of character crafting to be had running throughout this special day! Each session begins with a well known story told to you by a rather jolly and slightly silly potter professor, Who will then lead you into your craft for that session. There will also be a fairy scramble trail, face painting and more.
