On arrival we drove through the Safari which is amazing so many animals just wandering free and coming right up close to our car. Our favourite part had to be the baboons who were jumping all over and peering through the window, they had the kids in fits of laughter especially one checking himself out in the wing mirror. You are warned that they can and will damage your car but we risked it anyway and came away unscathed.
After the Safari we headed to the main park where there are more animals, talks, shows (the sea lion show is a must), fairground rides, cafe, an enclosed packed lunch area and play areas.
The fairground is better suited to younger kids I'd say under 11 and you can buy a wrist band for £10 and that gets a child plus 1 adult unlimited rides or you can pay £2 per ride. We got the wrist bands and they turned out really good value as we went on so many rides numerous times.
We had a fantastic day there. It took about 3 hours to get there from South Shields which wasn't too bad at all and leaving at 5pm we were still home for bed time. We were thinking of getting a hotel to stay the night as there are loads close by but with the spice girls and the football that wasn't an option this weekend however it was easily doable in the day.
